Eat curry to avoid cancer!

London, Sept 10 (ANI): The next time you give in to temptation and take an extra helping of your mother's special curry, it will be like eating the cake and having it too, as a new study has revealed that the delicious extra serving could actually help you avoid cancer.

The study which was recently presented at a conference on Childhood leukaemia in London, reveals that turmeric, which is one of the main spices added to curry, helps fight leukaemia, lessens the harmful effects of cigarette smoke and processed food and also stops the cancer cells from multiplying in the body.As further proof, the researchers argued that people in Asia, who are regular consumers of curry, have much lower rates of blood cancer. "Our studies show turmeric in the diet mitigates the effects of some of these risk factors," the Sun quoted Prof Nagabhushan, of Chicago's Loyola University Medical Centre and the lead author of the study, as saying. Cheney "accidentally" shoots hunting companion.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas Vice President Dick Cheney's hunting companion is reported in stable condition at a Corpus Christi, Texas, hospital, a day after he was accidentally shot by Cheney.

The incident occurred Saturday at a ranch in south Texas where the vice president and two others were hunting quail.

Ranch owner Katharine Armstrong says Cheney was using a 28-gauge shotgun and that attorney Harry Whittington was about 30 yards away when Cheney fired on a bird, hitting the 78-year-old Whittington in the cheek, neck and chest.

The shooting was not reported publicly by the vice president's office for nearly 24 hours, and then only after the incident was reported by a Corpus Christi newspaper.

Cheney's spokeswoman says the vice president met with Whittington and his wife at the hospital today. She says Cheney "was pleased to see that he's doing fine and in good spirits."
