What is Andy reading? The most obvious answer is "who cares" but...

This will be extremely nerdy, and many of you will think to yourselves, "God, this guy is really pathetic."  For the rest of you who are interested, for whatever reason, I thought I would let you know what books I'm currently reading at any given time (yes that's books (plural), I find the need to read several books at once, chalk it up to some sort of reader ADD), and let you know if I think they're good or bad or neither.  Without further ado here are the books I'm currently "reading". (I've put reading in quotes because I listen to audio books as well, my job requires this, otherwise I would go completely insane) 
I will indicate which version I'm reading, A for audio and B for an actual book.

A - When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops? by George Carlin
B - The Essential Dalai Lama (his important teachings) by The Dalai Lama
A - The Green Mile by Stephen King
B - The Truth (with jokes) by Al Franken

Old VCR turned cat feeder.

Writing for Make magazine, Larsson described how an old VCR--assuming its timer was still operational--could be turned into a "programmabowl VCR" designed to ensure that pets be fed on time in their owners' absence.

"The crux of it is that when a VCR becomes redundant or becomes faulty, it's usually the case that the system that runs timing and motor control are the last to die," Larsson said. "Mostly, people junk their VCRs because the picture is becoming a bit weird, but there's usually a lot of life left in a junked VCR, and I wanted to take advantage of that." READ MORE

Faucet shows water temp through color.

Remove the top of a spigot, create a small-scale canyon, add backlighting and you've got ambient water fittings. That's what Germany's Hansa is doing with Hansacanyon, by adding LEDs that change color as a function of water temperature so you can see when it's hot or cold. Also included; precise temperature control, for sinks, baths and showers.

Hey everybody!  We found this cool little site that works with google maps.  Basically you put in your zip code or town and a picture or whatever, and we'll have a map of where all the listeners are listening from.  Don't worry its not specific to addresses so no one will stalk you, although I think some of you might like that.
