There is nothing like a little memorial day treat called the Oregon Coast. It's not that I don't appreciate the Oregon Coast, because I do. I would just like it if the sun would shine over here, just for a bit, when I visit.
I know I'm going to sound like the huge complainer, but I must say, that it took five hours to get here yesterday, and normally it should take 2.5 hours. You should've seen some of these morons, and maybe many of you did. Enough of the bitch session, but I just felt the need to express.
We did see one very interesting thing yesterday, it involved a couple of "Bumper Stickers", it was too funny to not snag a few pictures of (Update: if you click on the link that says bumper stickers now you will see the Calvin pissing and Jesus dying collage...I thought it was funny.
We stopped at this pretty cool cove just above Newport and got a few pictures there too. These ones are more the regular old, hey look we're at the coast type.
I hope everyone is having a safe and fun Memorial Day weekend! I suppose that we should send our thoughts out to the men and women who are fighting Mr. Bush's war, I recently met a friend of my brother-in-law's, a young man in his early twenties, who is about to be sent on his third tour. I talked with him for a bit, although I could tell right away that the subject is one he wished to leave fairly quickly. He talked about what it was like "over there" and how he wished he didn't have to go back. He had such a sad look in his eye. I felt totally overcome with sadness after talking with him, he was so young and his innocence had been ripped from him. It's not to say that he didn't "sign up" for the Marines, but I'm sure he thought he would be fighting for the right reasons, and he said this to me. I found out later talking to my sister that he had watched two of his very good friends get blown up right in front of him on the last tour he'd been on. I would like to thank him and the others that have been sent into this hell hole. While I don't support this war, and the lies that got us there, I do support these young kids who were sent there. I support them in a way other than slapping a magnetic ribbon on my SUV, I support them in spirit. I support them as one human to another, who would hate to leave their family and friends and be scared and alone in a strange place, with all hope placed on coming home...
